The list of standalone tools at DNA Painter was becoming rather unwieldy, so I’ve given it a bit of a revamp. I was prompted to do this by Cody Ely, who pointed out that I could adapt the interface I built last year for other third party tools for genetic genealogy. You may recall that Cody is the person behind the Library of Matches tool.
The content of the new Tools page is the same as it was, but the layout now includes the following additions, which I hope you’ll find useful:
- The DNA tools are now categorized into ‘types’ as follows:
- Relationship prediction
(for example WATO, the Shared cM Project Tool, Library of Matches) - Match filtering and clustering
(for example Cluster Auto Painter, Bucketing) - Multiple relatives tested
(for example the Shared cM Investigator and Coverage estimator) - Segment calculation
(for example the Common segment generator, Distinct Segment Generator and Inferred Segments Generator) - (Some tools appear in more than one category)
- Relationship prediction
- I also indicate which testing site are relevant to each tool
- You can filter the list by clicking a button to narrow by type and by testing site
- You can also filter by keyword
If you can think of any repetitive tasks that you think I might be able to automate, or if you have any other ideas for standalone tools, please don’t hesitate to contact me via the details below.
I hope this update is useful. Many thanks again to Cody for prompting me to upgrade the page and for coming up with the categorization.
